Complete Guide to Indonesia SDPPI Certification
Essential for market access of wireless communication equipment/telecom equipment/consumer electronics in Indonesia
1. Understanding SDPPI
SDPPI (Direktorat Jenderal Penyelenggaraan Pos dan Informatika) is an agency under the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, responsible for compliance certification and supervision of telecommunications equipment and wireless communication products. All wireless/telecommunication devices entering the Indonesian market must pass SDPPI certification; otherwise, they are prohibited from being sold, imported, or used.
1.1 Which products require SDPPI certification?
| Category | Specific product |
|---|---|
| Wireless communication equipment | Mobile phone, router, Bluetooth headset, smartwatch, wireless network card, walkie-talkie |
| Telecommunication infrastructure equipment | Base station equipment, optical modem, switch, server, communication antenna |
| Consumer electronic devices | Tablet computers, laptops, smart speakers, Bluetooth speakers, GPS devices |
| Radio frequency equipment | RFID readers and writers, satellite receiving equipment, wireless monitoring devices, IoT modules |
| Communication Attachment | 4G/5G data cards, wireless chargers (with communication function), in-car communication devices |
- Low-power wireless devices (transmission power <10mW, such as Bluetooth keyboards/mice) can apply for exemption certification and only need to be filed.
- Samples used for research and testing (not for sale) require an application for temporary import permit and do not need the full certification process.
1.2 Types of SDPPI Certification
| Authentication Type | Applicable Products | Validity period |
|---|---|---|
| Type Approval (Mandatory Certification) | Wireless communication equipment, telecommunication infrastructure equipment | 5 years |
| Exemption (Exemption from Record Filing) | Low-power wireless devices, non-communication function accessories | 3 years (renewable) |
| Import Approval | Temporary imported equipment without Type Approval | 6 months (single entry valid) |
| Local Type Approval | Locally produced communication equipment in Indonesia | 5 years |
II. Certification Process & Core Basic Information
Preparation of Materials and Pre-evaluation
Preparation PhaseConfirm whether the product is on the SDPPI controlled list, and prepare local agent information, product technical documents, and international certification reports (such as FCC/CE).
Product Testing and Report Acquisition
15-25 working daysSend the product to an SDPPI-approved laboratory to complete localized testing such as RF testing, Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) testing, SAR testing (for mobile phones), etc.
Online Application Submission
5-10 working daysSubmit documents such as the test report, application form, product nameplate, user manual, etc., through the official SDPPI system, and pay the certification fee.
Document Review and Sample Inspection
20-30 working daysSDPPI reviews the application documents, and if necessary, randomly inspects samples for re-testing to verify the authenticity of test data and product consistency.
Certificate Issuance and Product Registration
5-10 working daysUpon approval, receive the SDPPI Type Approval certificate, and product information is recorded in the Indonesian communication equipment database. Verification can be done through the SDPPI official website.
Core Basic Information for Certification

3. SDPPI Certification Label Requirements
General requirements
- Must useIndonesian(English can be retained for comparison)
- Clearly indicate the SDPPI certification number (format: SDPPI-XXXX-XXXX)
- Product model, serial number, and production date are clearly identifiable
- Manufacturer name and contact information of local Indonesian agent
Special restrictions
- Mobile phone/Tablet: SAR value must be indicated (≤1.6 W/kg) and the words 'Compliant with SDPPI Standard'
- Wireless devices: must indicate the supported frequency range and transmission power (≤ SDPPI limit)
- Telecommunication equipment: It is prohibited to label misleading descriptions such as 'supports unauthorized frequency bands' or 'unlimited data'.
Format and Violation Instructions
-
Format Specification
Labels must be permanently affixed in a prominent position on the product, with a font height of no less than 2mm, resistant to friction and not easily detached; the SDPPI logo must be printed according to the official prescribed proportions and cannot be altered; smart devices must display certification information in the system settings.
-
Violation Penalty
Missing/incorrect labels: Maximum fine of 500 million Indonesian Rupiah (approximately 225,000 RMB), mandatory product recall; using the SDPPI certification mark fraudulently will result in 2-5 years of imprisonment and a permanent ban from the Indonesian telecommunications equipment market
